Into the Lurkwood!
Informational note: Jeri’s player was away from the table today due to graduating from her Masters Degree Program. So while we missed her today we want to say CONGRATULATIONS!!! It was also a shorter session due to scheduling conundrums.
We return to find our adventurers nearing the edge of the city ruins in the rain…
The party assessed themselves and taking a short rest, they healed themselves up and debated how far it might be to reach Eta’s family home. Eta said upon on an inquiry from Mott that she could find the way to her home because of this door she had in her chest that was for medicine- but upon seeing the concern on her friends faces she said that her heart told her where to go. Completing their rest, they began to trek again, departing the city and making their through the rainy day across the fields and rolling, small hills towards the forest. Jeri wandered a bit behind the party, lagging a bit just taking in her surroundings while making sure she wasn’t too far from the party.
Just after sunset the party arrived on the edge of the Lurkwood. Mott suggested the party stop there, but they weren’t tired yet and new they had a couple more hours walking in them and didn’t want to extend their trip longer than they had to. So on into the forest they ventured, seeing small forest creatures but nothing of any sort of danger. Finally tiring, Fianna searched them out a camping spot and the party set watches and settled in for the night.
As the party settled in, Lunaris asked Eta if it was true that she used to be a wizard and if so, could he maybe have her spell book. Not having thought of her spell book since becoming a cleric, she searched through her bag and in doing so did not find it, but she did notice a tattoo of a book on the palm of her prosthetic hand. It would appear, Eta told Lunaris, that she had in fact absorbed her spell book upon becoming a cleric. Slightly disappointed over not gaining new spells Lunaris settled in to take the first two watches while the rest of the party took their rest.
While Mott slept he was visited with a strange dream- a varied crowd of humanoids was gathered for a hunt of some kind along with a larger humanoid that spoke with a voice similar to the one that often spoke to him from his scissors. The dream had reached an end as Mott was being woken for his watch with the voice asking him if he would “join the Hunt?” He woke with a feeling of unsettlement from the dream.
Throughout the night a sneaky raccoon visited the party and stole a ration from Fianna, emptied Lunaris’ water skin, and stole an apple from Silbiiah- all without getting caught. But it was an otherwise uneventful night. Heading out the next morning to continue their journey, the party was joking a bit as Eta was suddenly a bit nervous.
Slightly before the party would have broken for lunch, with Eta finally settled back down, a goblin stepped out from behind a tree and said something to the party. Seeing as none of the party spoke goblin however, Ycks initiated a fight assuming that was why the goblin was there. This caused a small troupe of goblins to appear from the trees around the party.
A fight ensued with the goblins circling in on the party, a few of which seemed to be possibly making their way towards Mott- but none of the goblins really got very close to most of the party. Mott took out many with a one two punch of hypnotic magic and tentacled terrain, while the rest of the party fought. During the fray Silbiiah took a bad swing into Ycks before taking out the goblin the pair of them were fighting. Ycks yelled that Silbiiah would owe them a drink for sure at the next tavern and Silbiiah agreed. It did not take long for the party to take down all the goblins.
With the fight over and the party looking through, but finding little loot, Ycks shifted into Baltar’s form and punched Silbiiah in retaliation for the earlier blow in battle. Lunaris- seeing the form of Baltar got very excited as being a fan of Baltar he was hoping for an autograph, but Ycks shifted back and Lunaris was disappointed. Turning from disappointment to curiosity, Lunaris mentions to Mott and the rest of the party that it would appear that maybe the goblins were after Mott and why might that be? Mott suggests that maybe it’s because he once played in their village and they want an autograph…
It is here we leave the party, resting after yet another combat…
