Episode 3: That's Not How You Do Security...
We return to our party as they wake the morning they are to meet their charge…
Dantiel wakes first and loudly greets the day. This gets Zynamo’s attention and there is a brief discussion of the dangers of sleep. Karlock comes out of his room, offended that Dantiel has decided to be an alarm clock when he still needed his beauty sleep. Taka enters the common area, dressed and ready to go for a walk and heads out. Dantiel is fixated on getting breakfast so he heads downstairs. Silfrey has decided to have a lie in and tells Zyne to go with Citronella, who decides to join the breakfast crew.
Nythis decides upon hearing all the commotion in the common area that he wants to avoid the noise and he chooses to fly out his window. He meets Taka in the street as he leaves for his walk and Nythis heads into the tavern.
Dantiel orders a breakfast smorgasbord that everyone begins to graze as it arrives, while Taka is going leaving and Nythis enters the room. Nythis orders a smoothie and moves to a corner while everyone else partakes. The bar tender makes a joke about yesterday’s porridge being dangerous and Zyne’s very literal personality causes a brief stir as he looks to attack it before having it explained to him that it was a joke.
Taka takes a stroll to Sea Side Boarding where Jory lives. He calls out from the front door for Jory, inadvertently waking Jory’s landlord who was less than thrilled. Jory comes down and Taka asks him to meet him outside RID Supply at 10 am, telling him that he’s got a job and wants his help. Jory agrees. Taka heads back to The Bottled Current to join in on breakfast.
Nythis finishes his smoothie and heads out for a fly about to just get the lay of the land, telling the party that he will meet them at the meeting.
The party makes their way to the meeting as well. Taka made sure that Jory was there and Nythis enters last after the rest of the group and they are all shown to the conference room. Iona greets them and tells them that Clover and her party as well as a group from Polaris will be here soon. The Polaris group arrives soon after lead by a clank named Cerulean, who tells that the wedding is supposed to be in three weeks. Zynamo is very curious about the wire frames Cerulean wears and struggles with understanding wearing things for aesthetic purposes. Shortly after there’s running steps and a ribbet enters the room, looking very nervous.
Lady Vinia, Clover’s advisor, comes into the room and is visibly distressed to find that Clover has not arrived to the meeting. The party immediately starts asking questions about when was this meeting scheduled, has Clover ever done anything like this before, did she say anything about cold feet? Cerulean immediately jumps to it being political intrigue, blaming Voldaen. Lady Vinia tells them that she left from The Nest where they were staying and she was going to meet some of her friends who are guards here in Lightning Valley.
Cerulean provides the party with a portrait and Nythis makes a couple of quick sketches so the party has more than one image. Lady Vinia says she will go back to The Nest to wait in case she comes back and says she’s going to notify the Sheriff.
Dantiel and Nythis head up to the sky for search by air while the rest of the party immediately takes to the streets. Taka immediately goes to Jory and tells him what’s going on. Asks if he might know where the guards hang out and Jory tells him that he knows where the guards generally hang out called The Three Poles. The group on foot begins to head that way.
The aerial team searches around but sees nothing out of the ordinary, so they join up with the group on foot who tell them they are heading for the guards’ favorite hang out. They find the Three Poles as an off duty guard leaves and they show him the portrait, but he doesn’t know Clover and tells them to maybe ask inside.
Due to the bar being smaller and their group being larger, the Polaris group, Zynamo, and Citronella decide to wait outside where Zyne continues his mission to understand the aesthetics or aesthetics. Nythis continues his aerial survey. Meanwhile Taka, Jory, Dantiel, and Karlock head inside. They go straight up to the bar tender and meet Benny who says this is his place. Taka shows Benny the picture of Clover and he instantly recognizes her. He tells them that she left the bar about 10 minutes before that really big storm happened last night. He tells the party that Clover said she would be back today and that she had some news. Taka asks if she mentioned getting married and Benny says she didn’t but maybe that was the news she was talking about. Benny tells them that Zell and Mo are going to be upset that Clover is missing - these as it turns out are Clover’s guard friends. He says that they are probably on duty somewhere today but he doesn’t know where their daily duty assignment is. They stay at the same place but he also doesn’t know where that is. He does tell them that Zell is short for Hazel and he doesn’t know what Mo is short for nor does he know any surnames for them.
Dantiel stands on a chair and makes a loud announcement to the bar and tells everyone that Clover is missing and asks for any information. Several of the guards recognize the portrait of Clover, but they don’t know where she is. He asks them about Zell and Mo, he’s told they would need to check in with the Captain of the Guard who’s office is located in the Sheriff’s office. Jory says he can get them to the Sheriff’s office, so the group in the bar heads back out to the street and that’s where we leave them for now.
