Bad Night Out
Informational Note: Moira is still absent from the party.
And now back to our regularly scheduled program with the Dragon Hand Adventuring Company:
We return to find our heroes in the lobby of The Bridge Inn in Silverymoon where they have just finished paying for their rooms for a few days. Fianna decided to take some time to enjoy a dinner at the Inn and get some rest. Baltar decided he’d get some room service, have a bath, and head out on the town. The fun really begins with what happened next.
Mott decided that he was going to slip off to the brothel to gather information… Ycks and Eta decided that sounded like fun, though Eta was unsure of exactly what a brothel was but Mott talks a lot about lessons he learned growing up in his mother’s brothel so it must be ok. So they decided to follow Mott, but they were less than stealthy and he quickly realized they were behind him. Trying to lose his tail, he used a minor illusion spell to try to trick the two into thinking someone had dropped a pouch of gold and then hiding from them around a corner. While this worked on Ycks, it did not fool Eta and she caught up to him again while Ycks got lost in the traffic.
Realizing at this point that he really had no choice, Mott decided not to try to ditch Eta and took her with him. Arriving at the dance hall that was also the brothel, he tried to drop his mother’s name at the door to get in and get information easier, but the bouncer seemed to have no idea who that was. Nonplused Mott and Eta headed inside where Mott bought Eta an extremely expensive glass of win and tried to get the bartender to help him out with some information. He once again tried dropping his mother’s name to see if it would get him a meeting with the owner- he was once again met by a blank stare regarding his mother and was informed that this establishment was owned by a group rather than an individual and none of them were here at the moment. As this tactic had now failed twice he resorted to asking the bartender. He wanted to know who in town might collect eclectic items. While the bartender wasn’t sure who might, he did recommend that Mott have a chat with a Professor Dara Liadon at the Vault of Sages, as she specializes in myths and mythical objects. Mott found this to be satisfactory for an answer.
Meanwhile Ycks, having figured out that she had been tricked, made her own way to the brothel, giving the docks a longing look on her way. About the time Mott received his answers from the bartender, Ycks threw open the door to The Son of the Goat and strolled in for what they thought would be fun only to be greeted by an eight foot tall, familiar goliath’s booming voice saying, “Well hello, Captain. Thought you were dead. Should be dead, dropped you over the side myself.”
Ycks’ former first mate Sunny now strode across the dance floor about to draw his sword as Ycks greeted him trepidatiously, when the security mages used their magic to put a stop to the problem for the moment with a little hold person magic. Mott and Eta had been about to jump in on Ycks behalf. After a brief argument with the bouncer, Sunny was thrown out of the place and Ycks was released by the mages.
Ycks then explained to Eta and Mott that Sunny was once her first mate on her pirate ship, The Storm Breaker, before her crew mutinied. She hadn’t seen any of them or her ship since then. Deciding that since Sunny is here, her ship may also be, Ycks led Eta and Mott on a search of the eastern docks to see if her ship was here, it was not.
Back at the Inn, Baltar finished his dinner and his bath and headed off to find his friends. Assuming that Mott would have gone to the brothel, since he talks so much about it so much, he headed there to find his friends. Baltar like Eta, is not super familiar with how things like brothels work. Upon arriving and not seeing his friends, he sidled up to the bar and offering the bartender 10 platinum he described his friends in detail saying that he was there to find him. Due to the amount of gold and the location, the bar tender completely misunderstood what Baltar wanted and located him a lady friend named Bella and a young man named Tommy who led him upstairs. Baltar was very confused and kept asking them about his friends, while Bella reassured him that she and Tommy were his friends and telling him they’d have food brought up.
Cut to shortly after the door closed on the private room upstairs and Baltar figuring out that something was happening that he had not planned on and him running out of the room, grabbing a chicken wing on the way by, and out the front door of the establishment. Standing out in the midnight air, he spotted Ycks, Eta, and Mott down by the docks and joined up with them as they made their way back to the Inn.
Fianna, who was up long before the rest of the party the next morning, grabbed some breakfast at the Inn and leaving word for the party headed out to the market to set up a small stall to sell some of her paintings and make some gold.
Mott also had an early morning mission in mind. He immediately headed over to Vault of Sages upon waking, carefully sneaking out of the Inn to avoid having any kind tag-a-longs. Upon arrival at The Vault, one of the clerks informed him that Professor Liadon was not in today, but had an appointment available tomorrow. Mott booked the appointment for the next day and headed towards the market hoping to meet up with his friends.
It was shortly afternoon when Fianna looked up and spotted Mott and the rest of the party gathering around the notice board at the square. Having not done too badly on sales, Fianna packed up and headed over to join her friends.
Scouring the board, they noticed a few notes about missing daughters, a flier for the fight arena, a handful of jobs around the city, and underneath all that a flier looking for Eta. Her father had published this flier and listed a local agent saying their may be a reward for information leading to locating Eta. This resulted in Eta immediately wanting to charge off to see the agent in Silverymoon, but the rest of the party said that maybe they could do some of their errands in the artisan markets first.
Despite her impatience to see what she could find out about her dad, Eta also really wanted to get some armor, so off they went to the more artisan shops. First Mott asked Fianna to take them to the shop she knew where they could sell their drake scales. So they headed there first with Mott selling the scales he had for a decent price. Upon heading to the blacksmith shop for the purchase of armor, Eta discovered that at some point since their arrival in the city she had been pick pocketed and was short some gold that she needed to get the much needed and desired armor. With the help of a tiara and a necklace, the price from some fancy new half plate armor was negotiated down to something affordable. Thus having obtained armor and completed the most necessary of the missions, Eta finally dragged everyone to see her father’s agent.
As they were admitted to the office of Antin Larken, he informed them that the flier was over two years old. This gave the party a brief pause as they all thought they’d only been gone in the fae wild a couple of months and it seems that it may have been much longer. Antin also informed Eta that a year after the flier was posted William Nightseeker had returned to tell him that at this time he believed his daughter must have passed away and would no longer be paying for his services. Eta got very angry about this and started sputtering a bit mentioning her sisters to which the lawyer replied that William only had one daughter. Eta stormed out of the office into the street saying that she wanted to hunt her father down, baffled that he believed her to be dead.
And there we leave our heroes, angry in the street…
