Can't We All Just Get Along?!

Can't We All Just Get Along?!

Informational note: Moira’s player is still away. Also of important note 3 of the first 6 rolls were natural ones.

We now return to the Tale of the Dragon Hand Adventuring Company:

We find our adventurers making camp for the night, once again in rain, with Fianna once more setting up some cover to get a fire going. The party then settled in for their night’s rest with Eta and Ycks taking the first watch. Everything was going fine, it was normal watch, but then instead of waking Baltar up for his watch as scheduled, Eta and Ycks decided to change things up.

Nearly silently creeping over, one on each side of Mott, they both pulled back to go in for a face slap…. And they both slipped in the mud. Ycks, falling completely flat out on top of Mott while Eta was pushed by Ycks falling and managed to catch herself before she got a face full of mud. Mott woke suddenly to Ycks sprawled over him and just silently stared them down as the human and halfling quickly told him it was his watch and darted over to take up their usual sleeping positions: Ycks in her hammock between two trees and Eta on the ground underneath.

Rather than spending his watch actually watching, Mott decided to ensure that the two pranksters did not achieve their full nights rest. He spent his entire watch using a Minor Illusion spell to cast the sound of mosquitoes into the ears of Ycks and Eta. At the end of his watch, he went over and woke Baltar, telling him of the prank of Ycks and Eta.

Baltar decided that since the two girls had pranked Mott, he was going to prank them. He waited until just after he woke Fianna for the final watch and as he was settling down for the night, he threw his axe at the rope tying Ycks hammock to the tree…. And cut it, immediately bamfing the axe back into his hand and laying down like he was sleeping. Meanwhile as Ycks felt the hammock begin to fall she managed to jump out of it and not land on Eta, while Eta was woken by the wet hammock smacking her in the face.

Spotting her cut hammock rope and the axe mark in the tree Ycks immediately began to shout to wake the entire party because they must be under attack. This roused everyone, with Ycks upset about her hammock and Baltar repeatedly asking what did she mean they were under attack? Fianna immediately reported to Ycks and Eta that it was Baltar who had cut the hammock.

This then devolves into the Ycks and Eta yelling at Baltar because he didn’t have any reason to mess with them, Baltar yelling back at Ycks and Eta and also at Fianna for tattling on him. Fianna told Baltar that she had no reason not to tell the girls what he did as the two of them hadn’t gotten on well since she joined the party. Mott tried to reason with Ycks and Eta saying maybe they deserved the trick for all their shenanigans, to which Ycks announced that they had done nothing this night to Baltar, only to Mott. Mott reminded them of previous shenanigans that had been pulled, saying see you have done things in the past to which Ycks said : “No, I said tonight!”

At some point during this argument Baltar slipped out of it and laid back down to sleep.

Meanwhile during these loud pre-dawn shenanigans had roused two guards who had made a camp about a half mile down the road. They came riding up demanding to know who was under attack and where were the attackers. Finding none, they offered to do their duty and stand guard over the party for the rest of the night if they would just quiet down. The party agreed and all of them except Fianna settled back down to sleep.

As Mott closed his eyes to finish his rest he once again heard a voice in his head: “Your friends are interesting. Observing you is proving entertaining.” Acknowledging the accuracy in the statement about his friends, Mott then tried to ask the voice what he should call them and if he could ask him to speak to him- To which he got no response. Mott then informed the voice that thus far he finds “no reason to fear you” which resulted in a soft chuckle echoing through his mind.

Dawn finally arrived and the party gathered themselves to continue their journey and hopefully finally arrive in Silverymoon. Eta summoned a giant hyena from her bag of tricks while Baltar called Fianna a rat and the two argued. The guards bid the party farewell and they left them. After a bit more arguing Mott finally just shouted: “Can’t we all just get along?!” which seemed to get the rest of the parties attention and they pulled themselves together and headed out while the rainy autumn weather continued.

An hour or so down the road they were assaulted by an orc raiding party, which they were able to dispatch with relative ease after spending the last few days experiencing parties like this. Though Fianna did find herself unconscious briefly and woke to Eta healing her and Baltar attempting to bind her wounds- it would seem he’s trying to make nice.

Shortly after noon the party finally arrived at and was admitted through the gates of SIlverymoon. Led by Fianna they made their way to a general store to trade the orcish armor they had been collecting to put towards a fund for armor for Eta. After their brief trade excursion, Fianna led the party to The Bridge Inn where they all rented rooms for 3 nights, except Baltar who decided they must be staying longer and rented his room for 5.

And there we leave them for this week, settling into their rooms to dry off before heading out for a drink.

One can only imagine what kind of shenanigans this party will get up to when given an entire city to galivant through…
